MasculinityX presents a series of portraits that explore the diverse facets of queer identities and gender roles in our modern world. The series invites viewers to immerse themselves in a visual essay that does not aim to provide definitive answers, but rather raises questions, encourages reflection, and attempts to reflect the complex and dynamic nature of gender identity.
Three portraits – one movement: each photograph is a passage through spaces in between, where attributions shift, certainties soften and new interpretations become possible. The subjects are not clearly marked as male or female; they can be read as fluid, as ‘both-and’ and ‘neither-nor’. The series does not seek to talk about identities, but rather with them – collaboratively, mindfully, sensually.
MasculinityX creates a space in which the in-between can be experienced not as a deficiency, but as a quality. The series works with technical and haptic levels to show that identity is not a template, but a movement – visible, tangible, audible.
